Sell swung into action once again as he wins for the third time on the Jamega Tour.

The Wrag Barn-attached pro extended his lead at the top of the order of merit with a 4 under total at the latest tournament at the Players Club.

"It's been another great week," the 28-year-old told us, "I really feel confident with my game at the moment which is crucial as I am attempting the first stage of Tour School in a week's time."

David Howell Pro-Am

Sell is also just one of many professionals that will tee off on Monday in support of the David Howell Pro-Am at Broome Manor.
"It should be a fantastic day," he added, "and I'm looking forward to playing alongside some of the world's best professionals."

The David Howell Pro-Am, in aid of the British Heart Foundation in memory of Toby Drayton, will be taking place this coming Monday - 03 September 2007.

Entry in free. The action is set to start from 7.30am.

SECOND WIN FOR SELL

The rain may me be misery for most of us - but not for Swindon golfer Martin Sell.

The 28-year-old professional winning for a second time this week on the Jamega Tour thanks to thunder and lightening stopping play during the final round.

Sell leading by one shot at the time just as officials decided to call a halt.

"For once the weather has gone my way!" commented Sell, who is co-sponsored by SwindonWeb and Tithegrove construction, after receiving a winners cheque for £2,000 pounds.

"Winning for the first time last week really gave me a lot of confidence. Hopefully I can keep playing well."

The Wrag Barn-attached pro now hoping his hot streak of form will continue tomorrow [Wed 03 July] as he takes part in Open Qualifying at Minchinhampton.

"It's the tournament every professional wants to play in," Sell added, "but let's hope it doesn't rain!"

The 28-year-old professional defying difficult conditions of thunder and lightning to shoot rounds of 68 and 69 at Clevedon Golf Club, the latest course to host the fast-expanding tour.

SELL STORMS AHEAD

Swindon golfer Martin Sell - who is sponsored by Tithegrove construction and SwindonWeb - stormed to victory this week on the Jamega Tour - his first win of the year.

The 28-year-old professional defying difficult conditions of thunder and lightning to shoot rounds of 68 and 69 at Clevedon Golf Club, the latest course to host the fast-expanding tour.

Seven-under total securing a two-shot win and a cheque for £1,500 pounds.

"Quite naturally, I'm really pleased," Sell told us. "I've been playing well for a while now and was disappointed not to play better last week at Broome Manor."

"But this more than makes up for it."

Sell, who came runner-up in the Amateur Championship in 2002 before turning professional in 2004, now hopes this triumph will finance entry into bigger tournaments around the UK, with a place on the main European Tour his aim.

"It's where I want to play," Sell added, "teeing up with top players like David Howell is what every professional aspires to."

New Golf Tour Swings Into Town

It was tee-off time for the Jamega Tour in Swindon this week.
A high quality field of 96 golf professionals from across the country descending on Broome Manor GC to take part in the latest of a series of tournaments organised by local golfers, Garry Harris and Richard Law.

Former European Tour winners, Paul Eales and Mark Mouland among them playing this week.

"It a great Tour, and I'm very keen to support it," commented Eales, who now mixes professional golf with commentating for the BBC and SKY.

"The standard is always very impressive, as are the courses. And this type of competition is a fantastic stepping stone for pros looking to play on the main European Tour."

Organiser Harris - himself a professional and former County playing partner of Ryder Cup hero David Howell - particularly pleased to host one of the Jamega Tour events here in Swindon.

"The Broome Manor course has been set up superbly," he said, "and it's testament to the fact that we've attracted so many good players this week.

"We're an up-and-coming Tour and we've plans for more tournaments and even bigger purses."

Each 36-hole event costs £160 to enter per professional, with over 80% of entry fees ploughed back into the prize fund.

This week's winner will pick up a cheque for £2,250.
